Thiruvananthapuram is deeply connected to Avalokitesvara, the personification of great compassion. According to Mahayana sutras, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s abode is the western slope of Potalaka (Potikai hill / Agastyakoodam) that overlooks Thiruvananthapuram. On clear days, this western slope of Potalaka is visible on the skycape from Bodhikshetra.
